The black Jag pulled up to the curb and the Hyundai followed.  The sun shone and made a brilliant glare of both vehicles.  Charlie Finkeberger got out of her Jag and quickly walked around to help the young couple out of the Hyundai.   The man mowing the lawn next door looked at the aging real estate agent.  She definitely paid a lot for that airbrushing , he thought, after comparing the visage now in front of him with the one captured in the FOR-SALE sign on the curb.  He waved at Charlie and she waved back. “New prospects, huh?” He said, shutting the mower off. Charlie smiled contemptuously.  She could swear that old bastard just loved every minute of her not selling this god-forsaken house.  It was like he waited for her to show up.  Every time.  “No, Mr. Kramer,” she straightened her dress and looked at him with a polite smile. “They’re buyers.  These nice young people are going to be your new neighbors...

Fiction.  500 word challenge from a few years ago. Jasper woke suddenly as his head bumped against the bus window.   He felt the drool running down his chin from the corner of his mouth and he wiped it with his old pea coat sleeve.   Then he rubbed his eyes, and, blinking the way that you do when you’ve been woken in the middle of a REM cycle, he looked around to get his bearings.   He realized he was on the bus first.   Then he saw the giant stuffed lion on the seat next to him.   The lion was from Delia, his social worker, and he was going to give it to June, his daughter.   He looked outside to see where the bus was heading, but it was dark and the glare made only his reflection visible.   He did notice a blue sign with a big white H on it, though.    That meant “Hospital.”   Yes.   June was going into surgery.   June was going into surgery at the  Hospital! Fiction - Screenplay By the way, if any film students are interested in making this thing, let's talk! FADE IN: EXT. BUSTLING CITY - DAY BRUCE HUDSON, 35, skirts the edges of a gaggle of people crowded around someone or something. Bruce is impeccably groomed, and wears a high-end business suit. As he skirts the crowd, he keeps looking over their shoulders into the center. His partner TOJI NAGAHISA, 68, is lying on the sidewalk in the midst of the crowd. Toji has white hair and speaks with a heavy Japanese accent. After a couple of laps around the crowd, Bruce shoves his way through to his partner.   BRUCE Let me through! Please!   I’m from Sunset Meadows Retirement Community! Come on, Mr. Nagahisa, your excitement’s over. (Aside, to an onlooker) He does this every once in a while – calls these little outings his “mini-vacations.”   Bruce pulls Toji up gently and helps him out of the crowd.
